South Plymouth motorcyclist injured in hit and run

Essex County motorcyclists must take every precaution possible to prevent accidents and injuries due to the negligence of other drivers. In many circumstances a driver who is not acutely aware of their surroundings at all times may fail to see a motorcyclist near. Add to that impairment that occurs when driving under the influence of alcohol and the outcome is likely to lead to catastrophic injuries.

This may be the case for one South Plymouth motorcyclist who was allegedly struck by a drunk driver who was operating an SUV. According to reports, the driver of the SUV left the scene of the motorcycle accident after it occurred. It is unclear whether or not he tried to assist the biker in any way. However, the suspect was arrested by police later that same night when he returned to the area surrounding the scene; it is unclear what his motivations were for going back.

According to police, the SUV turned in front of the motorcycle and caused the collision. The victim was apparently still in the road when the police found him. He was taken to the hospital for serious damage to his leg.

Many motorcycle collision injuries can cause lifelong disabilities and significant medical expenses as a result of continuous physical therapy and follow-up care. If you have been injured in an accident, speaking with an attorney about methods of seeking compensation for damages suffered may be a good way to help lessen the financial strain that is often felt following a collision.
