When a passenger vehicle and semi-truck collide in Massachusetts, it typically does not end well for the automobile driver or the other passengers inside. This is due to the sheer size of tractor trailers and the fact that they carry so much force behind them. Because automobile drivers generally stand to lose more in a truck accident, it is important to remember to give them plenty of room to maneuver.
The driver of a pickup truck was one of the lucky ones that was able to come out of a collision with a tractor trailer without serious injuries. The accident occurred just before 7:00 a.m. on December 30, 2013 in Newton, Massachusetts. Although the authorities are still investigating the crash and it is not known what exactly caused it, they say that the pickup truck collided with the semi-truck and became trapped underneath it.
When help initially arrived on the scene the pickup truck’s driver was not able to respond, so they called in firefighters to help extract the man. They used block and tackle equipment as well as the Jaws of Life to help get the man out of the wreckage. Once he was removed, he was transported to the hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.
Those involved in this accident would be well advised to consult with a personal injury attorney to ensure that their interests are protected and that they are properly compensated for the damages done to their vehicles and for any of their applicable medical bills.
