Complex regional pain syndrome is a disease that can develop following a traumatic injury. Chronic, unbearable pain may develop following an injury or surgery and continue long after the initial injury heals. Unfortunately, imaging tests, blood tests and other tests cannot aid in the diagnosis of CRPS and, as such, it can be difficult to diagnose and difficult to get insurance companies to take seriously.
Chronic regional pain syndrome can be characterized by:
- Severe burning or aching pain in the affected limb
- Considerable swelling in the affected area
- Hypersensitivity to touch in the affected area
- Changes in skin temperature, color and/or texture
- Decreased ability to move the affected limb
- Progressively debilitating pain
New Hampshire and Massachusetts Attorneys: CRPS/RSD Claims
If you have been diagnosed with CRPS/RSD following an injury, car accident, infection, unnecessary surgery, slip-and-fall accident or assault, you may be entitled to compensation for your hardships. We can evaluate your case and pursue full compensation for your medical expenses, ongoing needs, lost wages and pain and suffering.
However, it is important to understand the CRPS/RSD is an unfortunate, but known, risk of surgery. Suffering CRPS/RSD as a complication of surgery is not an automatic indication of medical negligence. We carefully review each case — seeking proper evaluation by medical experts when warranted to identify if there is cause for a personal injury claim.
