With spring in full bloom here in Massachusetts, there are more and more bikers out enjoying the warmer weather on their motorcycles. Some automobile drivers may tend to forget about the importance of paying attention to motorcycles over the winter while they’re not around, but watching out for them and respecting their right to be on the road can prevent serious accidents, injuries and deaths.
Had a driver been vigilant in keeping an eye out for bikers, a motorcycle accident may have been prevented in Sturbridge recently. A car that was turning east pulled out in front of a motorcycle that was traveling west. The biker evidently did not have enough time to stop or swerve to avoid the collision, because he crashed into the driver’s side of the vehicle.
The impact was so great that it left the driver’s side hood and windshield badly damaged and the front wheel turned inwards. Both lanes of the highway were blocked for more than two hours while authorities conducted their investigation. Traffic was directed around the scene by police officers. The biker suffered serious injuries and the driver of the car was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The biker injured in this accident may wish to contact a personal injury attorney to discuss his case. A lawyer can review his case and give him advice on how best to proceed in order to obtain proper compensation for his pain and suffering, damages done to his motorcycle and his medical expenses.
