A regular sized vehicle in Essex County, Massachusetts is no match for a commercial truck. When the two collide, it is no surprise that the automobile is typically the one that receives the most damage and, depending on the circumstances of the accident, the car’s occupants tend to be more badly injured than the truck driver. This is because the truck is usually significantly bigger in size and weight than a typical passenger car. If this is the case for a regular sized car, imagine the consequences that occur when a commercial truck collides with a motorcycle.
This was the case for a recent truck accident in Wenham. Although authorities are still investigating the accident, and the official cause of the collision is unknown, it is known that the motorcycle and lumber delivery truck were both traveling on Route 1A when the accident occurred at 2:10 p.m. The motorcycle came to rest on its side on the northbound shoulder of the road with the front end of the truck against it. After the collision, a fire engulfed the front end of the truck, causing significant damage.
The truck driver was taken to the hospital where he received treatment for minor injuries. The motorcyclist was killed in the accident.
Although the cause of the accident has not been determined yet, the truck driver and family of the motorcyclist may wish to consult with a personal injury attorney. Doing so can help protect them legally and ensure that they are properly compensated.
