2 adults and 2 children injured in fatal Chatham car accident

Drivers are expected to maintain a consistent speed within posted limits and safely stay within their own lanes. Cars that begin to swerve and abruptly change lanes are avoided by others on the road. Sometimes, however, it is impossible to quickly react to the unpredictable behavior of another driver, and the driver’s recklessness can lead to an auto crash that causes injuries to others.

Two children were transferred to a Boston hospital from Cape Cod Hospital after being injured in a car accident in Chatham. The children and two adults were in a vehicle just leaving a parking lot when they were hit by an SUV. Their conditions were unknown but it is likely that the children were seriously injured.

The driver of the SUV had apparently been driving erratically and his actions were brought to the attention of local law enforcement by concerned observers. In response, officers decided to follow his car. Once the driver became aware of their presence, he reportedly attempted to evade their attention. In the process of trying to get away, the driver’s car hit a pedestrian standing on the side of the road at a bus stop and then crashed into the vehicle. As a result of the impact, the pedestrian was killed.

Car accidents that lead to injuries and fatalities are tragic events, especially when an accident could have been avoided. Individuals may be affected by their injuries for the rest of their lives, and the family members of the man killed in the accident will have to face the magnitude of their loss everyday. Anyone that is injured by the reckless actions of another driver may benefit from contacting an experienced attorney to discuss their options for recourse.
